PABA Building business, bridgeing community: non-profit branding for LGBT Business Association

Objective:
Sol Identity was hired to create a series of advertisements for the Portland Area Business Association (PABA), in preparation for Portland Pride 2009-2010.

PABA needed someone to help them fine tune their already existing logo as well as churn out some fresh new ads in time for the new Gay Yellow Pages to go to print. They were in a time crunch and needed things done right the first time!

Solution:
Sol(id)™ worked alongside PABA board and committee members to form key messages that would result in greater awareness and support of PABA and the LGBTQ community. Pulling inspiration from current LGBTQ graphic icons, Sol(id)™ incorporated the “rainbow” into the PABA logo, resulting in a brighter, more eye-catching design, as well as a more direct affiliation with the LGBTQ community. Sol(id)™ used the new logo as a starting point for formulating a combination of three key messages--aimed at three distinct audiences through the use of text, graphic art and photos-- to convey the overarching PABA mission, to: “support equality and diversity in our community.”

Results!
PABA received an immediate and overwhelmingly positive response to the brand’s new image. Positioned to build advertising and marketing campaigns upon a foundation of energy, passion, and progress, PABA now looks the part of an organization that deserves widespread support, endorsements, and awareness from the LGBTQ & Allied communities, and beyond.
